Book Review: Twilight Series

Stephenie Meyer is the author of my all time favorite book series (Saga),The Twilight Saga and my mom is amazed at how into these books I've become.  Especially, since she has to wait for my oldest sister (Thing One) to finish it, before she gets her chance to read ;o)

Fair Warning: Once you start, this series will be near impossible to put down.

My obsession with these books began last summer, when I dove into Twilight:

Bella Swan is a teenager from Phoenix and moves in with her Dad, Charlie Swan, in Forks, Washington. There, she meets [the most wonderful person on Earth, I think] Edward Cullen. But what she doesn't know, is he and his entire family possess a dark secret, that will change her life forever. As their friendship grows, other feelings begin to emerge. When Bella and Edward fall hopelessly in love, their lives are put in extreme danger, and their love put to the ultimate test.

After that, I devoured New Moon:

In the second book, all seems well again for the two star-crossed lovers. But when Edward leaves, Bella is left bleeding. The one to stitch her back up is an old family friend, Jacob Black. He is only two years younger than her, and falls head over heals in love. But the feeling is not mutual. As their friendship becomes strained, more complications emerge. Bella is left to save her true love from the worst mistake of his life, extermination.

Once I finished New Moon, I waited for the next book to be released.  When it was, I sped through Eclipse like my life depended on it:

In the third book, Edward has officially returned. But even greater complications arise. With a deadline to become immortal, a friend that has betrayed her, and a wedding on the horizon, Bella has a lot on her plate. But when an old enemy, pushed forward by revenge, rears her ugly head, it may mean the end for all of them.

Finally, after waiting FOREVER, the latest book in the series, Breaking Dawn, was mine at last:

In the fourth and latest book, everything finally comes together. Edward and Bella are finally together forever, Jacob and Bella remain friends, and Bella will soon join Edward in the world of the immortals. But, when an army of ancient rulers decide to make a visit, alliances, friendships, and love, are all at risk. Will they ever live in peace, or is this the end? Find out for yourself as you are sucked into the world of Twilight.

I just finished reading Breaking Dawn.

It was, in my opinion, the best book I have ever read - not to mention, the best book of the entire series - even though it was the longest book out of all 4, I finished it the fastest!

Oh, and did you know about the movie?

Twilight is scheduled to premiere in theaters December 12, 2008 - just in time for my 13th birthday!

I have to admit, I was a little worried about the actors and actresses that were cast in the movie.

Then, my mom told me that Stephenie Meyer was on set and had a say in the decision; I respect her judgment, and accept that these actors and actresses fit her outlook of the characters.

The only character I was worried about was Edward Cullen - he will be played by Robert Pattinson, who some of you may remember more clearly as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movie, The Goblet of Fire.

Now that I watched the trailer(s), I think he is definitely fit to play the role, no matter how hard the role may be. I can't wait to see it!
