This Full House Giveaway #14: Ethel Gardening Gloves
[Update: This giveaway has ended - WE HAVE A WINNER! - with our most sincerest congratulations to, Betsy!]
I come from a long line of gardeners - my father was a landscaper, my grandfather and both my great-grandfathers were master gardeners to noble families in Europe - and I often tell my children that gardening is in their blood.
"Ewww, get it out!"
My 9-year-old son has this habit of taking things literally, lately.
So, anyway, what I was trying to say is that I grew up surrounded by flower beds and soon fell in love...with the sweet smell of wet dirt.
It's intoxicating, really.
A lot of people ask me why I put some much time and effort into growing vegetables, when we are surrounded by farm markets and super-shop-and-drops, and I smile, nod and just say that it makes me happy.
Dirt under my fingernails, not so much!
After a day of gardening, my hands look pretty...beat up, I mean...then, a nice lady representing Ethel Gloves contacted me and I happily agreed to slip on a pair of gardening gloves made especially for women.
I received their Signature glove and, I have to tell you, it really does look like the high-performance racing car of gardening apparel and, to me, felt (and looked) more like a driving glove, really.
Dangit, I had to agree with my husband, Garth (not his real name) but, according to Angela Wong, brand manager of Ethel:
"As we were developing the Ethel line of gloves, our goal was to create products that would truly let women enjoy their time in the garden."
Key features include:
- Four-way stretch Spandex for flexibility [fits like a glove, pardon the pun!]
- Extended, elasticized cuff keeps dirt and debris away from hands [gathered at the wrist, just right.]
- Breathable, synthetic leather for comfort and durability [feels more like butter, really.]
- Reinforced fingertips provide protection where it is needed most [stupid roses!]
- Rubberized grip at key points for better dexterity [especially, for those of us who tend to drop and/or break things, a lot]
- Machine washable [BOOYAH!]

I mistakenly grabbed a fist full of poison ivy, then wiped my forehead while wearing my last pair of gloves. After the breakout subsided, I trashed the gloves and swore off yard work forever. These gloves could make me reconsider my decision.

My horrible gardening gloves left my hands and fingernails filthy. These would be fantastic.

If you saw all my ripped, (mostly in the fingernail area) gloves, you would take pity on me! I usually use dishwashing gloves underneath the real garden gloves so I don't get dirt under the nails...so sad!
