Speedy Synopsis: The best of the mommybloggers including Amalah, Finslippy, Fussy, Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Mom-101 and more!
One of the reasons I enjoy blogging, so much -- besides, the flexible hours and the fringe benefits of hanging out in my pajamas and having unlimited access to the delete button -- is the extreme sense of community and respect we share, for each other.
Mommybloggers (or, Mom Bloggers, Blogging Moms, Bloggers who happen to be moms, if you like) come from different backgrounds (spiritually, economically and sometimes even a bit frenetically) and that's what makes the blogging world so unique.
Marketers know that the mom blogging community is hot, right now -- both, literally and figuratively speaking -- because, they know, that we know, mom bloggers know how to network.
Unfortunately, what the Internets sometimes forgets is that Mommybloggers are more than just "providing content" - we're sharing our stories and tackling tough issues that perhaps many of us wouldn't know how to approach, in our everyday lives.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could take a piece of the blogosphere and wrap it up in a tidy little book, to take with us, in real life?
I received a copy of Sleep Is for the Weak (courtesy of Parent Bloggers Network) and couldn't help but feel the same way I did, after giving birth.
A little tired, but very proud.
No, it's not one of my babies -- although, I've been blogging long enough (5 years) to have bared witness to its conception -- Sleep Is for the Weak is a collection of essays, featuring some of the best examples of why parents no longer need to feel so alone, anymore:

Birdie's New Mexico Time Machine
City Mama
Finslippy

Fussy
IzzyMom
Laid-Off Dad
Mom-101

Be careful, though -- Sleep Is for the Weak, just like it says -- once you enter it's pages, you will NOT be able to put it down, until your eyes start to bleed, or come away feeling the same way you did about you, your children, or your life, again:
"My mother passed away peacefully on January 6, 2006. Each day I am with my children, I am reminded of the intense love she gave me, and I pray that each day I can show my children the love and devotion she gave me. I owe her at least that much."
Jenn Satterwhite (a.k.a. Mommy Needs Coffee) was on my very first blogroll (since, set adrift and lost in the blogosphere...because, I am a DORK!) and her essay resonated with me, at a time when I was questioning my own mother's love, and made me take a real hard look at the guilt of not being able to let go of my less than idylic childhood.
You can't say I didn't warn you.
Don't worry, Sleep Is for the Weak is filled with honest-to-goodness stories that perhaps every parent can relate to and, in my opinion -- as a mother of 4 children, wannabe writer and Professional Dork -- these authors WILL do their best to help their readers get through even the most sleepless of nights.
No matter our age, size, color, or whether we speak in UPPERCASE, or no.
