Maybe Baby: From blog, to book and tales of an infertile love story.

An Infertile Love Story

One of the benefits to be reaped in the blogging community is the sense of belonging and validity one feels reading about the experiences and (especially, in my case) mis-adventures of fellow bloggers.

Then, I find a blog that has me physically rooting for the writer (and his wife) and then watch as he gets lucky, one more time.

Maybe Baby - I hope so:

My blog follows our journey through the world of infertility and attempted parenthood with a sense of humor and an ear toward sticking my finger into the eye of the gloriously bizarre world around me.

Matthew is a writer, editor, blogger (Maybe Baby is also the name of his blog, baby) and he is the lead singer of an alt-rock band called Urgency.

Having had a serious "blog crush" on Matthew (and his wife, Constance) and following their journey for quite a while, I was pleased to be offered the opportunity to take part in the Parent Bloggers Maybe Baby Campaign!

As a SAHM with 4 children, my days are filled with juggling a massive bag of mixed emotions - anywhere, from absolute joy to sheer contempt - because, in my opinion, parenthood is like living an extreme sport and I sometimes need to be reminded that there are folks out there who would be more than happy, just to be able to even make it out of the gate.

Maybe Baby does just that.

"One trip to the pharmacy, two home-fertility tests, and four days later, I officially had a low sperm count, and our inability to conceive finally attached itself to the word we had avoided uttering in ten months of unsuccessful sex."

Then, it hit me...hard...infertility does not choose sides, it can pretty much rip an entire relationship to pieces:

"We were infertile, and it was, indeed, my fault."

Maybe Baby reads a lot like Matthew's blog and, rather than being mad at the world (as I would be) he tries to help his readers understand his pain - especially, having to watch his wife go through some of the most agonizing moments in a woman's life - while, introducing a healthy dose of humor and humility, as, we willingly follow along in their journey.

Although, as of today, they are MUCH closer to a happy ending - nope, not going to jinx it and you'll have to visit their blog to find out why - Maybe Baby is a continuation of a love story that I sincerely hope will never end!

In the meantime, keep on, keeping on Matthew - I'm sending Constance all good vibes, straight from my overly-breeding hips - everyone should be rooting for  Maybe Baby!
