[WE HAVE A WINNER - Congratulations, Shilo!!!]
Using a specially-designed mat and the Wii Remote, players compete in over a dozen single and multi-player events like river rafting, mine-cart adventure, log jumping and more.
Grab a towel, kids - oh, you should also stick around for an extra review and DS game giveaway - this virtual ride into the great outdoors is about to get...um...really, sweaty!
It was a dark and stormy night - yeah, we get that a lot here in Jersey - but, the youngest members of my family didn't seem to mind.
You see, we had just received the new Active Life Outdoor Challenge from Nintendo and - although, the kids were stuck inside - I was surprised that they both still managed to get a little wet.
"Phew, my legs are tired and I need a drink of water!"
Sometimes, getting my kids off the couch is a real challenge - although, getting a Wii really, really DOES help - they just couldn't help but get into the swing of Outdoor Challenge.
Even my oldest daughter (she's 14) found an excuse to ignore the laundry and try her hand (and feet) at rising to the challenge of trying to get both of her feet to move, at the same time and stomp a couple of moles, without falling on her backside, just like her Momma.
[Note: No animals were hurt in the making of this review and you won't find any pictures of me, either, thankyouverymuch!]
So, what else does it help the kids do, besides get active and perhaps ignore a couple of their chores...I mean?
- Gameplay Variety - Play over a dozen fast-paced games, alone or with friends, that get players' whole bodies into the action.
- Intuitive Gameplay - Simple controls allow for quick pick up and play. Great for parties!
- Play Together - With both competitive and co-operative challenges.
- Mii Support - Play as your Mii from the very beginning.
- Track Character's Fitness Progress - See your character's body change according to how you play.
- Tremendous Replay Value - Over a dozen games, each with multiple levels of play: river rafting, mini-cart adventure, log jumping, see-saw, jump rope, water trampoline, to name a few.
- Other Features - Includes training mode to work different body parts and synchronization gauge to check the level of team work in cooperative play.
- The Active Life Mat - The specially-designed mat is bundled with the game so you can jump straight into the action.
I mean - I've jumped better rope here, than in real life - parents should find this game fun, too!
