PBS KIDS CELEBRATES HALLOWEEN WITH NEW EPISODES
Yep, I am one of those parents, who believe in the benefits of good quality television programs -- like, Sesame Street and the original Electric Company with Morgan Freeman -- especially, for families who perhaps lack access to educational resources we tend to take for granted.
For example, first generation American kids, who started kindergarten not being able to read, write, or speak a word of English -- just like my twin brother and me.
PBS KIDS is kicking off Fall with three exciting announcements including upcoming Halloween-themed programming, a new educational iPhone app, SID’s Science Fair and WILD KRATTS “Predator Week” programming!
WILD KRATTS features the Kratt Brothers from Zoboomafoo (now in syndication on PBS) and my kids absolutely LOVED watching this show (me, too!)
You and or your kids into Wildlife? Dinosaurs? How about Science? EXCELLENT!!!
Check this out:
WILD KRATTS “Predator Week” will feature four brand new episodes from October 17 through 21 where the Kratts brothers will cover natural science concepts through story lines about predators such as great white sharks, wolves, cheetahs and raptors.
SID'S SCIENCE FAIR APP includes three mini-games that build science and math skills:
- Gabriela’s “Collection Inspection”: Choosing from several different exploration environments, children discover patterns in natural objects using an interactive magnifying glass.
- May’s “Chart It!”: Children use charts to explore a set of objects and then organize ten objects on a chart according to a shared trait, such as color, shape and orientation.
- Gerald’s “Time Machine”: Children explore how different objects – from food to plants – change over time. They first order the events in sequence, and then the events form into a timeline that players can move forward and backward in time to see the transformation.
