My parents were teenagers when they immigrated to America during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. My mother was 14 and my father (pictured above on the far right) was my oldest daughter’s age when he first stepped onto U.S. soil with his two best childhood friends.
With the rest of our family living overseas, it was a natural fit for my kids and I to adopt Joe and Martin as honorary Uncles: so, as you can imagine, Independence Day is a big deal at our house.
Recently, we gathered together with family and friends to celebrate our oldest daughter Holly’s high school graduation, our youngest daughter Hope's fifth grade promotion and her 11th birthday with a Happy Everything party.
This week, I am very honored to partner with TheMotherhood.com and Hershey's in helping families celebrate summertime and our favorite fireside treat...S'mores!...as a featured blogger for their Camp Bondfire campaign on Facebook!
I hope you join me for fun tips, great stories and a chance to win a fire pit, every week! Here's how:
Camp Bondfire offers weekly tips, stories and memories around a variety of fire themes: this week, I am very, very honored to be celebrating Red White and S'mores...just in time for Independence Day!
Each week one lucky fan will be selected as "Camper of the Week" and will win an outdoor fire pit: enter by registering at www.facebook.com/hersheys through September 3, 2012.
Campers also have the opportunity to share their own fireside memories: by adding photos to the Fireside Memory Book at Camp Bondfire.
S'mores lovers (like me) can receive a printable $1 off coupon towards their next purchase of Hershey's milk chocolate bars: which were first introduced in 1900 -- the first printed record of the S'mores recipe appeared in a Girl Scout handbook in 1927!
August 10 is National S'mores Day: celebrate weekly with new S'mores themes, tips and memories available weekly at Camp Bondfire!
So, stop on by (when you have time, of course!) and check out my tips for celebrating Independence Day with Red White and S'mores.
Happy 4th of July, everyone!!!
