So, what's it like, 6 people living in a 7 room house?

This Full House is a full-frontal encounter into my life as a SAHM, lover of multi-functional gadgets, slayer of ALL appliances proved slow and/or inefficient, with 4 children, 2 cats, 1 super hyper sock-eating chocolate lab and 2 damned much laundry.

Edited Version: I make OTHER moms look good!

Red, White and Blue Friday #7: eMom - Supporting Our Military, One eMail at a Time!

Redwhiteandbluefridaysbadge_5
Red, White and Blue Fridays was created as a way of showing support to our soldiers by spreading the word on ways we (bloggers, like you and me) can say, "Thank you!"

Regardless of the fact that you are a democrat, republican, liberal, independent, conservative, left wing, right wing, or a giant purple people-eater - WHATEVER -  wouldn't it be nice if we could ALL just...you know...come together and NOT be afraid to flaunt our red, white and blue....yeah...I mean, that's what the blogosphere is for...right?

Riiiiight.

This week, I'd like to share with you the first step towards making  a difference in the life of a military service member and how you (yes, even YOU) can help out a fellow eMom!

My twin brother is full-time Army National Guard and, during his deployment 3 years ago, he told me that one of the things he and his buddies looked forward to - besides, coming home - was mail call.

I blogged about suggested care package items here and pictures, letters, cards or ANY word from home is STILL a very precious commodity.

In 2001, the U.S. Department of Defense canceled the "Any Service Member" and "Operation Dear Abby" mail programs due to concerns over personnel safety in the wake of the Anthrax mail attacks.

"eMail Our Military’s founder is a military wife, the daughter of a veteran and an avid troop supporter. We’re volunteers from all walks of life who understand that regardless of our political views, our military service members deserve our respect, support & encouragement."

Respect, support & encouragement - keywords that, I know, many of my blogging friends are already very well acquainted with.

You can become a registered member (for a one-time $2.00 processing fee) and provide one-on-one support to a service member. But, even if you can't join, you can still get involved - here is a list of eMom's current campaigns:

  1. Share an eMOM Flyer
  2. Podcast Promotion Project
  3. Website / Blog  Promotion Project
  4. Spread The Word
  5. Sign Up Your Service Member
  6. Soup For The Troops
  7. Send a Free  Calling Card
  8. Postcards  Across America
  9. Cool Our Troops
  10. Messages of  Support
  11. Postal  Proclamations
  12. Just for Kids
  13. Holiday Love

It may NOT sound like much to some folks (personally, I don't know of anyone who would say so) but, it's nice to know that even the smallest effort can truly make someone's day.

Show your support and let our soldiers know that they are NOT forgotten - consider this my personal invitation to write on our virtual Wall of Honor, read more about our RWBF Campaign,  or join our pretty RWBF Group on Flickr!
