A Letter to the Next President of the United States

Dear Mr. President,

I know you're busy.  You've worked very hard, traveled many miles, remained sleepless for a ridiculous amount of hours and heard millions of voices asking you to remember them in your considerations as the next President of the United States.

As a mom of 4 children, I feel it safe to say...it's about to get worse.

Sleep Is for the Weak: A quick peek into the Momosphere.

Sleepisfortheweak_5

Speedy Synopsis:  The best of the mommybloggers including Amalah, Finslippy, Fussy, Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Mom-101 and more!

One of the reasons I enjoy blogging, so much -- besides, the flexible hours and the fringe benefits of hanging out in my pajamas and having unlimited access to the delete button -- is the extreme sense of community and respect we share, for each other.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could take a piece of the blogosphere and wrap it up in a tidy little book, to take with us, in real life?

Take a quick peek into "Sleep Is for the Weak," here!

Nearly Wordless Wednesday: The Pond

Thepond

It's our most favorite spot to fish for tadpoles and one of about a bazillion beautiful places you'll find here, in New Jersey...YES...really!

Check out the Official Wordless Wednesday HQ
Tag, you're it:

Also, I've got a post up at the SV Moms Blog Group, fresh from the Garden State:

New Jersey and You, Imperfect Together!

Now, we return back to our regularly-scheduled...HOLY CRAP!...it's already Wednesday and what do you mean only 7 more sleeps until school starts?

If anyone needs me, I'll be spending the rest of the week mourning the fact that my first born baby girl is old enough to go to high school...SOB!...and hitting the clearance racks...HARD!

This Full House est. 1990

Thisfullhouseaisledash

August 25, 1990 - the year of the big dress and Cinderella Poof

I think Dennis Miller (who ALSO happens to look a lot like Garth, not his real name) said it best:

"After 7 years of marriage, I am sure of 2 things.  First, never wallpaper together and second, you'll need 2 bathrooms...both for her. The rest is a mystery, but a mystery I love to be involved in."

After 18 years, 4 kids, 2 cats, 1 sock-eating Doofus-dog and tons of laundry later, I'm STILL waiting for a bathroom.

[heavy sigh]

Because, I love you THAT MUCH!

Summer's almost over, time to cram for school!

Dunebabies

Dune baby, dune baby, give me a smile -- or, not.

In less than 2 weeks, our summer will be over and -- having directed nearly all of my attentions to raising kids and killer dust bunnies, for the last 15 years -- perhaps you'd be surprised, as I am, to learn that I haven't done a gosh-darned thing to get the kids ready for back-to-school.

Besides, doing nothing....I mean.

My husband, Garth (not his real name) and I have been busy -- although, taking a quick look outside -- you really couldn't tell.

We've slowly been mowing, planting, weeding and transplanting our way through the seemingly endless amount of chores that come with having a big backyard.  Not to mention, keeping our house from falling down and crashing into our 100-year-old neighbor's immaculately kept lawn.

Yeah, you heard right -- she's turning 100, next month -- so, where do we get off feeling so tired, all the time?

Twilight Moms and the Dads who love them, or NOT.

I began my obsession with Twilight in the Summer of 2007, when my oldest daughter insisted that...YES...it would keep her interest and...OF COURSE...the genre would make an absolutely perfect fit into her summer reading list.

"It's a vampire love story!"

Uh-huh.

So, I read it first to make sure that it was really, you know, appropriate for teen readers and...WHAM...it truly was love at first bite.

[cringe]

Don't worry, Stephenie Meyer writes way gooder than me and has taken a story line that is not really that unique -- like, how love overcomes all obstacles, sort of -- but, presents it in a totally refreshing way.

I'm nearly finished reading the latest in the Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn" and my husband, Garth (not his real name) truly believes that at least one member of our family may very well be a vampire, or werewolf.

And it ain't isn't me, either!

[Warning:  this blog post has a pretty scary ending and is NOT recommended reading for the faint of heart - especially, if you are a Dad!]

Mommy's Little Eye Candy - Resurrected!

Thisfullhouseeyecandy_2

A few years ago -- long before Twitter and SEO's ruled the Internets -- someone came up with MILF and I thought...ICK!...and then I had this idea of hosting a weekly series of photos and blog posts targeted towards more frazzled-out and frustrated moms, like me.

Then, with just one click, I blew up my blog and lost 2 years of eye candy!

[bows head in a moment of silence]

I think it's about time we resurrect some good old-fashioned mommy porn of our own; hopefully, translating it as NOT having to feel guilty about wanting to stay in bed and pulling the covers over your head, or worry about how you should probably be doing something a little more, you know, constructive instead.

Like, food shopping, doing laundry, or something.

Riiiiight.

I don't think so!

In fact, Mommy's Little Eye Candy will make you LOVE Mondays...yeah, that's right...or, help you forget the worry and stress you feel about the rest of the week.

For a little while, at least.

[big toothy grin]

Ready for this week's Eye Candy?

National Women's History Museum Needs a Home!

From Hillary Clinton's run for the Presidency, the fierce beauty and strength of gold medal winners Nastia Liukin, Natalie Coughlin, to Darra Torres’ improbable 5th Olympic bid (at 41, she is one of the oldest female Olympians at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games) it's been a historic year for women!

To the media, I'm just another mom blogger -- serious issues, like politics, aren't supposed to interest me -- still, I can't help but wonder.

Why IS IT so hard to find a home in our nation's history for these American women?!?!?
