Motherhood may not always be beautiful, sometimes it's pretty freakin' GLAMOROUS!

[10/20/08:  Wanna read all about my adventures in Hollywood?   Visit, Glamour Reel Moments:  When Mom Bloggers Unite - Day 1 and Just Another Mom's View From the Red Carpet - Day 2]

Funny thing, motherhood is.  There are times when it comes easily.  Simple little moments of joy and peace that goes along with nurturing a family I have spent nearly all of my childhood dreaming of.  Then there are days when I'm, literally, tearing my hair out and desperately searching for the nearest exit.

First, there was the thing with my dad (his recovery is going well, thank goodness!) then my eye doctor found something "funky" show up on a couple of tests.

"It could be nothing, or it could be serious."

Okay, being a glass is half-full kind of gal, I'm thinking...nothing...and then he goes and makes an "emergency appointment" with a specialist, the next day.

"But, serious would be, you know, really, really bad."

Then, walking around and pretending like it's nothing.

"It's NOT serious, just let me write down a couple of notes and then I'll tell you why."

A-a-aand then, spending the next couple of minutes, thanking your lucky stars and thinking of a thousand ways you could have done things better.

Last week, in a nutshell, totally nutty!

A-a-aand, just when I thought things couldn't get, you know, any worse...well...something pretty freakin' AWESOME happens (oh, I dunno, like being invited to Hollywood) and I just hope I don't puke ALL over Scribbit's new red leather peep toe platform pumps!

So, I've been invited to attend the 2008 Glamour Reel Moments film festival sponsored by Suave (I know, I do NOT know how that happened, either) along with my friend Amy from MomAdvice.com (who I met at J&J's Camp Baby and happens to be cute as all get out, dammit!) and the incredibly talented Dawn from Because I Said So (who I also met and admire, big time!) not to mention, the ever-glamorous Michelle from Scribbit!

[eyes go wide]

Uh, yeah and DAYUM!

Though, I've started sweating it over at Our BlubHer Overhaul, I am most humbly honored to even be included in the same paragraph with those ladies - let alone, associated with fabulous women in marketing, or fashion and  beauty bloggers, like these - then again, Suave seems committed to helping mothers feel pretty...all...over...again!

I'm pretty sure it's the reason they asked ME, anyway!

You see, Glamour Magazine hosts this contest (three years, now) where readers submit their story ideas and then famous actresses pick their favorite idea and make it into a short film.

Famous, as in, Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Rita Wilson and Gwyneth Paltrow have all made their directorial debuts with Glamour Reel Moments, which helps promote women in film.

This year?

Demi Moore and Courtney Cox join the red carpet and Suave, the sponsor, is bringing us bloggers along to attend the film festival (and party) then, we are supposed to write about the experience.

Um...let me think...YAH, I'll be there...and I am totally looking forward to sharing it with you (yes, YOU) on my review blog!

Finding something to wear, not so much.

So, I took my two oldest girls shopping with me.  They are 12 and 14 and know their way around the mall way better than I do.  After hitting about a dozen fitting rooms and stumbling out of practically every store (seriously, my flip flops were barking) I crashed...HARD!

Then, I got home and found out that my husband, Garth (not his real name) went on ahead and ordered THIS dress!

Jonesofnewyorkdress

Jones New York - I wonder if she would consider being my, you know, stand in!?!?

WHAT!?!?  Okay, so I couldn't find anyone to send me a dress, as pretty as Michelle's (btw - who is stunningly tall, dammit!)  but, I thought it was damn sweet of my husband to take charge (seriously, we did NOT need the extra expense) so, that I can FINALLY have that little black dress I've always dreamed about, you know, hanging in my closet.

"I know what looks good on my wife!"

See what I mean?

"Besides, if you don't like it, you can always go out and find something else!"

[eyes go wide]

Um...did I mention that I'll be flying to L.A....all the way from New Jersey...in less than two weeks...and will be way to busy puking...to worry about, you know, what the hell does a plain-old mommy blogger wear on the red carpet, anyway?

[hurl]

However, green DOES look good on me.

[looks for the nearest exit]

Sort of.

[Edited to Add:  Got the dress, didn't fit - stupid breasts - but, found a Little Black Dress That Could!]

Hey don't worry, I ordered my shoes with a special puke guard. :)

And all those nice things you said? Even my MOTHER doesn't say things that nice! :)

I am so excited for this, it's come at the perfect time. I can leave the house which is a disaster and have fun. You'll have to introduce me to Dawn, I haven't met her yet.

Oh and your husband? Deserves some extra special lovin' after doing that. What a guy!

Your husband is awesome, and he has excellent taste!

I can't wait to read all about your adventure!

Michelle - Ordering puke guard shoes, just for me, you ARE totally awesome!

YellowRose - Hey Momma, I am going to try and take lots of pretty pictures, like you. Though, I am borrowing a camera and hope that I don't, you know, break my mommy's Kodak ;o)

AHHHH!!!!! This is so exciting! First off, that dress is HOT. I hope you post tons of pictures. Secondly, you absolutely deserve every honor in the world, I'm so happy for you!

That dress is beautiful! Your husband has good taste :)

And that is exciting news! yay for you! Hope you take a lot of pictures :)

Congrats on the Red Carpet event and the dress from your awesome husband. Have a fabulous time! Looking forward to hearing about it when you get back.

Julie, Jen and Meeta:

Thanks for your kind words - I really am nervous about this trip - it IS an honor and I still can't believe that they asked, you know, a Dork like me!

Have to borrow my mom's camera, because I broke mine.

I know, and thanks for acting surprised anyway ;o)

OMG!! I am so excited for you! {(Jumping up and down for you even though I'm not in my exercise bra!)}

And here I was obsessing over what to wear to a car/drive event.

Garth-not-his real-name wins major points for the dress. That was so sweet. Can't wait to see pictures of you and hear your stories.

Have fun!!

Oh, Liz, I can't wait to see you again. I felt like I was just getting to know you at Camp Baby and then I had to head home to real life ;) I love you to death and can't wait to do all of these amazingly glamorous things with you! We are going to have SO much FUN!!

See you soon!
