Red, White and Blue Friday #7: eMom - Supporting Our Military, One eMail at a Time!

Redwhiteandbluefridaysbadge_5
Red, White and Blue Fridays was created as a way of showing support to our soldiers by spreading the word on ways we (bloggers, like you and me) can say, "Thank you!"

Regardless of the fact that you are a democrat, republican, liberal, independent, conservative, left wing, right wing, or a giant purple people-eater - WHATEVER -  wouldn't it be nice if we could ALL just...you know...come together and NOT be afraid to flaunt our red, white and blue....yeah...I mean, that's what the blogosphere is for...right?

Riiiiight.

This week, I'd like to share with you the first step towards making  a difference in the life of a military service member and how you (yes, even YOU) can help out a fellow eMom!

Red, White and Blue Friday #8 - How do you say "thank you" to a hero?

You BRING IT on You Tube, of course:

Well done, Lexi!

Red, White and Blue Friday #7 - You're a grand old complex and contentious flag!

Fullhouseflaginwinter

There's a company that manufactures American flags not too far from us - in fact, it is the landmark right before the exit lane I should be taking towards the beach - and it's sort of hard to miss the eleventy-hundred flags flapping in the breeze.

Perhaps some people would find it difficult to see the patriotism in that - especially, since the company makes flags - but, I know that it would be hard to deny that the company is probably just following through with some pretty heavy duty advertisement.

What would you say if I told you that NOT all American flags are made, you know, in America?

Red, White and Blue Friday #6 - Military Blogs Will Soon Be History, For Some

Red, White and Blue Fridays #4 - Bringing our troops a little bit of home.

Redwhiteandbluefridaysbadge_5 Welcome to the 4th Edition of Red, White and Blue Fridays.

Basically, our mission is to recognize and acknowledge members of the U.S. armed forces and their families and, hopefully, bring awareness to the ways in which bloggers can show their support.

How?

To me, "support our troops" is more than just a sound bite on a t-shirt of bumper sticker (my minivan sports a magnet, actually) it means that I understand the sacrifice, dedication and difficult decisions members of our military make, every day, and honoring that commitment, by making one of my own.

What?

I've pledged to celebrate Red, White and Blue Fridays and showing my support by spreading the word on ways we (bloggers, like you and me) can say, "Thank you!"

Today, I'd like to tell you about a couple of simple ways we can bring our troops a little bit of home.

Red, White and Blue Fridays #3: Supporting Our Troops - it IS more than just a catchphrase!

Redwhiteandbluefridaysbadge_5 Welcome to the Third Edition of Red, White and Blue Fridays.

Basically, our mission is to recognize and acknowledge members of the U.S. armed forces and their families and, hopefully, bring awareness to the ways in which bloggers can show their support.

I don't consider myself a pundit, on anything, especially about politics - if you're looking for someone who is...she's really good - I do NOT, however, have a problem with speaking on behalf of defending the things I love the most.  Especially, when it means lending a helping hand (whenever I can) and showing MY support to...well...people who are willing to put the needs of others, first.

It's the mom in me, I know.

There are those people who believe that "Support Our Troops" is meaningless.

I don't agree.

Red, White and Blue Fridays #2: When Parents Are Deployed - Talk, Listen and Connect

Redwhiteandbluefridaysbadge_5 Welcome to the Second Edition of Red, White and Blue Fridays.

If you missed last week's inaugural post, no worries - it's open to everyone and you can leave your thoughts anytime you visit -  you can go here and find out all about the new feature that will run every Friday, here at This Full House.

Basically, our mission is to recognize and acknowledge members of the U.S. armed forces and their families and, hopefully, bring awareness to the ways in which we - the great and mighty blogosphere - can show our support.

Today, I would like to talk a little about helping families during military deployment - especially, households with little ones:

Red, White and Blue Fridays #1: In support of our troops and saying, "Thank you my bruh-thuh!"

Yep, I have a twin brother and we ARE Geminis; freaky...huh?

All politics aside - really, I don't even know who I'm voting for yet - I am trying to focus on the all the GOOD things that our guys and gals are doing over there, here and everywhere.

I was very moved by the kind thoughts, emails and comments left regarding my tribute to Major Olmsted, who was killed, in Iraq, on January 3, 2008.

So, I've decided to make a commitment and dedicate one blog post to simply say:

"Thank you!"

In memory of Sgt. Olmsted, I dedicate Red, White and Blue Fridays to my only sibling; my twin brother, who my kids affectionately refer to as, Uncle Bud.

Yes, I have a twin and - unlike me - my children absolutely adore their Uncle Bud.

He is currently serving full-time in the Army National Guard and his unit is scheduled to deploy to...somewhere...far, far away...sometime in the spring of 2008.

Thank you for your thoughts, everyone.

Although, there is nothing I can say that will change that anytime soon - unless, the government acknowledges that...you know...he does have ONLY one kidney and his medical leave comes through - showing our soldiers support is my priority number one.

Let's keep it going, okay?

My Mission:

  • Recognize and acknowledge members of the U.S. armed forces and their families.
  • Show support and let them know that they are NOT forgotten.
  • Contribute and dedicate one blog post, every Friday, in tribute to those who stand ready to die in order to protect our freedom AND the freedom of others.
  • Honor their service and sacrifice by finding ways in which we can ALL pay tribute.
  • Create, dedicate and update a Wall of Honor listing the names of soldiers and their families entered into the weekly roll.

Like Sgt. Olmsted, my bruh-thuh is my hero and the inspiration behind Red, White and Blue Fridays - you're more than welcome to join me, it's easy, just click here and see - as I dedicate THIS inaugural post in tribute to those who stand ready to defend our freedom AND the freedom of others.

Today, I learned that I am NOT the only one who doesn't always know how to say, "Thank you;" have you seen this one, yet?

Join the campaign, post a link to the video, display the badge, send a message to our troops (or, take a moment to leave a comment for someone who did) and remember to say:

"Thank You"

I just did - it's easier than you think!

Is there anyone you'd like to pay tribute to?  Not a problem - the auto roll will look like the one showing above - all you have to do is leave your name, their name, or link to a blog post (like I did in the example above) with one simple line:

"Thank you!"

Be sure to grab a badge:

The Code:

<a href="http://www.thisfullhouse.com/this_full_house/red-white-and-blue-friday.html"><img src="http://www.thisfullhouse.com/badges/red-white-and-blue-fridays-badge.jpg"></a>

It will link back to Red, White and Blue Fridays, enabling other bloggers to join in paying tribute to our soldiers and their families.

Regardless of the fact that you are a democrat, republican, liberal, independent, conservative, left wing, right wing, or a giant purple people-eater - WHATEVER -  wouldn't it be nice if we could ALL just...you know...come together and NOT be afraid to flaunt our red, white and blue....yeah...I mean, that's what the blogosphere is for...YES?

Any questions, or trouble copying the code, feel free to email Liz at:  thisfullhouse@verizon.net

Thank you for taking the time to stop by - support our troops, bring them home, treat them right - HOOAH!
