If I had to choose a gift, that would rank high above all others, I would have to say that the personalized stationery I got for Christmas is perhaps one of my favorites - thanks, Mom! - because, most mothers don't usually buy themselves such pretty things.

That's why I believe I could fall in love with some Pow Pads for Mother's Day, too!

Living with 4 children - who insist on answering the phone and then forgetting to tell you about the call, because it was NOT for them - in my opinion, their message pads would ALSO make a handy addition to any busy household!

Seriously - these kids' birthdays are lasting way longer than...well...the actual labor, really - my three oldest children were born in November, December and January.

I'm all birthday-ed-out, man!

With that said, I think I should tell you that my kids have never had a "themed-party."

Zula Patrol Explore Space: No safety helmet required.

Last month, I participated in the PBN blog blast featuring The Zula Patrol -  a show on PBS promoting science education among 4-8 year olds - and it gave me an opportunity to talk about how my husband, Garth (not his real name) and I were bringing science back for our kids.

I said then, that this was a children's television program that I could see becoming a new house favorite.

But, could my computer savvy six-year-old sit through 57 minutes of uninterrupted space exploration...without having to use her hands...or, a safety helmet?

J-Lo did it.  Madonna and Angelina have done it, several times.  Christina and Jessica are about ready to pop.  Now, Nicole and Cate are joining the ranks of celebrity moms - whose last names you don't even need to know, to recognize - effortlessly showing off their baby bumps on the covers of magazines, everywhere!

While average, every day busy moms (like you and me) are perhaps a bit unsure of themselves and wonder if we really look AS tired as...you know...we feel.

My kids love American Idol, but - as I was explaining to a family friend - getting through the auditions, for me, is sort of like...well...watching a horror movie.

How are parents supposed to influence confidence and be supportive of their children's dreams, and yet be unsympathetic to their propensity for delusions of grandeur?

By singing along with them, of course - but, is nurturing an interest in music really all that important, for a child?
