When my oldest daughter was born, I remember one of the first things I did was count her tiny fingers and chubby little toes and then feeling a huge sense of relief.
Then, I pretty much started to worry about EVERYTHING else...since then...but, one of the major issues my husband and I dealt with, very early on, was eliminating choking hazards and making our home as safe and child-friendly, as possible.
What if I told you that it may NOT have been enough and the very thing that was supposed to ensure her safety (along with her 3 siblings) nearly killed another child?
"I invented SafetyCaps because my daughter Sage got a standard-sized outlet plug lodged into her throat and nearly suffocated."
"SafetyCaps have wider shields and ventilation holes based on pacifier regulations to ensure against choking."
As if, George's personal story wasn't disturbing enough - I can't even begin to imagine the horror of watching your child choke, without feeling sick to my stomach - he went on to tell me this:
To date over 40 of the largest childrens hospitals have written to the CPSC [U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission] and recommend that these devices be regulated to be larger than 1 3/4 inches and ventilated because standard sized plugs pose a choking hazard. The CPSC said that these devices are safe because no kids have died.
Mine did, I brought her back
George was kind enough to offer our readers a few packs of SafetyCaps, to share his story and bring awareness to the potential choking hazard of standard-size outlet plugs.

Word-of-mouth marketing IS the best part of blogging and participating in an online community - like, parenting blogs - plays a vital role in what average, everyday people (like me) are talking about, or buying into, today.
