I had the pleasure of introducing readers to the Omron Pocket Pedometer on National Start Walking Day (April 8th) and was very excited when Omron Heathlcare offered to send one of our readers their cool new pedometers to help people (like me) stay fit and, you know, get walking!
This month, the good folks at Omron Healthcare generously offered to sponsor This Full House in the Omron Overstep Your Bounds Challenge, held during BlogHer 2009 in Chicago, IL, where I competed against 5 awesome bloggers:
- Christine Young – Fromdatestodiapers.com
- Briana Carter – Bargainbriana.com
- Shannon Entin - PhatMommy.com
- Tanya Gordon – MommyGoggles.com
- Elizabeth Thielke – Busymom.net
Why?
Well, the woman with the MOST steps at the end of the 2-day challenge (7/24 - 7/25) wins and will be awarded $5,000 to the charity of her choice
Guess what? I WON!!!

Here's the REALLY REALLY GOOD PART:
Everyone of us exceeded the 10,000 recommended daily steps (final totals from 25,115 to 12,674) for a combined total of 121,091 steps taken for charity and that is just all sorts of awesome, I think!
Omron Healthcare, Inc. will donate $5,000 to the charity of my choice: Our local Ronald McDonald House.
On behalf of the really awesome folks at the Ronald McDonald House, I want to take this moment to thank Omron for their generosity and my good friends at Weber Shandwick (I mean, really, we ARE all on a first name basis) for always helping me keep it real and blog with integrity!
Here's the REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD PART:
What, with all this talk of swaghags and adults behaving badly at BlogHer (seriously, just stop it) it's not like I'm looking for anyone's approval, or anything -- except, the folks who take the time out of their already very busy day to come here looking for our opinions on stuff, of course -- but, after nearly 6 years of indulging in a little self-publishing (long before bloggers, sponsors and potatoe heads walked the expo halls) it's sort of nice to be able to write something, you know, for the greater good...AGAIN!
That IS just all sorts of awesome, right?
