Just so you know -- my picks, product features and blog posts (as always) are advertorial free. No one is paying me, to talk about their product. It's just some really nice stuff that I thought you guys would like, too.
Let's get started, okay -- have you heard of Grandpa Read?
On the set, Grandpa Read is a kind and gentle grandfather who loves to sit in the comfy old rocking chair in his den with his loving dog Champ at his feet and read Quiet Time Tales to children.
Sort of like a contemporary Mister Rogers.
IRL, Gary Sturm (who portrays Grandpa Read) is indeed a grandfather with a rocking chair, a den and a dog. He is also a retired school teacher with a passion for reading and a collection of children’s storybooks which he enjoys reading to his four grandchildren.
The warm tone of Grandpa’s voice, the beautiful illustrations and the mellow songs of Quiet Time Tales ("Make A Wish on a Bowl of Fish" made me smile) well, compared to the LOUDNESS of the cartoons kids are watching on television (don't even get me started on the Doodlebops) I can certainly understand how soothing and relaxing it will seem, to young viewers.
Okay [yawns] maybe even us parents, too.
Quiet Time Tales is a collection of 12 DVDs for children 2 to 8 and a nice reminder for families (like mine) to slow down, sit back and perhaps enjoy a little quiet time, with each other, for a change.
Want one?
The nice people at Quiet Time Tales have offered to send one (1) of our dear readers Volumes 1 - 4 of Grandpa Read's Quiet Time Tales DVD, a CD of all 13 songs to help inspire some quiet time in your house, too!
Because, we roll like that!
