Just so you know -- my picks, product features and blog posts (as always) are advertorial free. No one is paying me, to talk about their product. It's just some really nice stuff that I thought you guys would like, too.
Let's get started, okay -- have you ever played the "I'm bored," game?
My parents would often times talk about the simplicity of growing up with "homemade" toys in Hungary, at a time when kids were thrilled to find treats like, foil-wrapped chocolate, or a pair of brand new socks hanging on a small table-top tree and, well, there's something to be said about the staying power of celebrating a good old-fashioned, low-tech holiday.
Maukilo.com is an online store, owned by HABA (a 70-year-old German toy company) and shares a warehouse with HABA in upstate New York.
From the website:
- Wooden toys sold at Maukilo.com are finished with non-toxic, natural lacquers; and plastic toys are made from child-safe, PVC-free materials. Maukilo’s goal is to provide toys that are made to last, so that any toy can withstand the test of time and be passed onto the next generation.
For Example: HABA Castle Knights Game is a cooperative building game for 2 - 4 players, made from cardboard and wooden game pieces (small parts, not for children under 3 years) together the players pile up building blocks - but not with their hands, with a very special constructing tool.
Want one?
Thanks to the generous folks at Maukilo.com, I've got a $25.00 gift code burning a hole in my in pocket and, well, I'd love to share it with one (1) of my online friends, so perhaps we can ALL enjoy a little low-tech fun, this holiday season (for a change) courtesy of HABA Toys!
Because, we roll like that!
