All 3 of my daughters share 1 bedroom (what used to be the master bedroom of our house) and I think this would be a GREAT idea to help me make the room a little more, you know, functional! [via My Idea Book on Houzz.com]
My husband, Garth [not his real name] and I have a love/hate relationship with watching our favorite home/landscape renovation shows -- love to watch, hate to admit that our house is a REAL mess!
Don't believe me? Feel free to take our virtual tour...go ahead...I'll wait!
See? Just once, I would love for Ty Pennington to knock on my door and say, "It's okay, Thompson Family, we'll take it from here!"
Still, this is our house (my kids HAVE TO live here) so, I've committed myself to getting my act together and whipping this house into a more functional home...in my mind, anyway.

I WANT ONE!!! [via My Idea Book on Houzz.com]
Called "the Flickr of home design" by the Washington Post (says so on their homepage) Houzz claims to have the largest collection of home design photos on the Internet (over 23,000 photos) and I tend to believe them.
This is my REAL pantry, which used to be the linen closet, which is now stuck in the corner of the girls' closet, which you do NOT want to see that, trust me!!!
Because, I've spent most of this morning, browsing through other people's idea books and, well, thank goodness the photos are organized by style, room and metro area.
Although, I would like to see Houzz add browsers for "square footage" and "budget-friendly," and I thought I saw a tab for "family friendly" but, I can't seem to find it now.
A quick search for "family friendly" provided pretty decent number of results, so we're good.
My REAL messy desk...smack dab in the middle of our houzz.
The reality is, we are TIGHT for space and don't even get me started on how messy (not to mention, expensive) raising 4 kids, 2 cats and 1 sock-eating dog can get -- feel to read about it on my other blog ;)
Okay, here it is...my dream home office...a few extra shelves and a couple of cabinets...can you see it? [via My Idea Book on Houzz.com]
Bottom Line: From fancy work spaces to really simple fixes to make a home office look less, you know, homely and useful tips, like 10 Ways to Use Pink in a Girl's Room (that won't make mom, or dad want to, you know, puke) or, How to Avoid Using Pink in a Girl's Room (YAY!) visiting online home design and decorating sites like Houzz.com is an awesome resource of inspiration that, in my opinion, perhaps helps real families (like mine) get closer to making their dream homes a reality.
Then again, there's always HGTV Dream Home 2010 Giveaway [heavy sigh] but, don't bother, this year, that little Southwestern baby IS SO MINE!!!
