I was watching PBS, while in the middle of a self-proclaimed "mommy needs a time out" (last year, I think) when I fell in love with Celtic Woman (figuratively speaking, of course) a 5 member Irish female ensemble, all of whom are extremely talented and awfully gosh-darned pretty, too, DAMMIT!
Then again, I'm a sucker for string instruments and a good set of pipes, not to mention, the modern movement that's recently hit Celtic music -- don't even get me started on the gorgeous that is Celtic Thunder -- so, when Child's Play Communications approached me about their latest Music Mom project (of which, I am also a proud member) I was more than happy to give Celtic Woman: Sounds of the Heart a listen and take them up on an offer to share some Celtic love, with you, too!
Wanna see?
I actually found the PBS trailer from Sounds of the Heart on YouTube and, well, go ahead and take a moment for yourself, grab a beverage and a quick look at Celtic Woman, right here, if you'd like:
I love the mix of traditional music -- although, "Amazing Grace" is one of my favorites, no matter who sings it, really -- along with contemporary favorites, like Sting’s “Fields of Gold” and Billy Joel’s “Goodnight My Angel,” even my two oldest girls (they are 16 and 14) recognized "When You Believe," originally sung by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, for The Prince Of Egypt Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
"That's SO pretty!"
Aaaand, they were both more than happy to, you know, sing along with me, sort of.
Because, you know, this music mom will probably never get the chance to sing, IRL (you're welcome!) unless it's in the shower, or on a bet and it would have to be for REAL BIG MONEY, too!"Are you going to, um, write about this?"
FINAL VERDICT: Celtic Woman: Sounds of the Heart is real easy listening, with an upbeat, modern Celtic twist AND a nice change from all the pop tarts the kids are getting fed, these days -- figuratively speaking, of course!
