I am very excited (okay, so, this is where my kids would interrupt and suggest, "SHOCKED," as a more accurate description of my reaction) to have partnered with Mom Central as one of their Frigidaire Test Drive Moms - Team Everything!
Why?
Well, as I mentioned in my inaugural post, 'cawse nobody breaks stuff, like I do!
Here's a quick recap (you're welcome!)
- We survived THE BIG INSTALL
- My attempts at burning down the house
- Not to mention, nearly snapping the wheels off the dishwasher
- Using the over-the-range-microwave as a, well, on-the-counter-for-now-microwave
- Playing a game of Fridge or Dare
- Then, about six weeks in at this point, really began working out the kinks
We're in the final countdown of the program (and, if you're still reading along, with me, well, you might as well consider yourself family, at this point) and I'm just very surprised I haven't broken anything yet, and here's why...
You really don't know how good an appliance is, until you beat the sucker into the ground and it still works right -- so, after more than 2 months, here's what we found out about the dishwasher:
SpaceWise Organization System: Yep, plenty of room for even our dinner dishes (especially, when entertaining the in-laws) and this is the first dishwasher where I haven't felt like I had to rearrange stuff, constantly.
Largest Silverware Basket (among leading brands): Utilizing the space on the side of the rack for the silverware basket just makes SO MUCH sense.
Adjustable Upper Dish Rack: Finally figured out why the dishwashing tablet wouldn't disolve properly. Thought it was happening whenever the upper dish rack was lowered to accomodate larger glasses and the dispenser door would get stuck. NOPE. We were actually putting the tablet in the wrong place. There's this little slit, between the dry and liquid areas of the dispenser, where the tablet should go. DER! It works fine, now.
Quietest Dishwasher in Its Class (based on published manufacturer specifications for plastic interior dishwashers) Still quiet, after all these weeks, would you believe it? Kinda scary when it drains, though.
Stay-put door: Forgot to mention this in my dish washer duty post -- seriously, the door "stays put" no matter whatever angle we open it and is a feature I didn't even know I would have wanted, in a dishwasher, until we had it!
FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH: My time as a Frigidaire Test Drive Mom and working with brand new appliances has truly been an awesome experience (living in a house decorated in early hand-me-down) but, not being one for reading operating manuals (or, directions for that matter) and having kick-slammed doors shut, on more occasions than I cared to admit (out loud or when my husband is listening, anyway) hopefully, our experiences (good and bad) will perhaps help other folks decide on stuff to consider when looking for brand new appliances, like these.
Aaaand, yes, I am very, very happy the dishwasher STILL works -- then again, I'm still not done with the refrigerator, microwave, or range and the washer and dryer are due to arrive next month -- so, stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can play Spin & Win for a chance to win prizes, including your own time-saving Frigidaire Affinity washer/dryer.
Plus every day you take a spin, Frigidaire donates $1 to Save the Children as part of their $250,000 commitment to this worthy cause.
Because they roll like that!
