[CONGRATULATIONS: BROWNBEAR129 -- COMMENT #2 -- AND TINA -- COMMENT #5 -- PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS!!!]
My mother weighed 13 lbs. at birth and joked that she has NEVER seen a skinny day in her life.
I, on the other hand, was quite petite, until about the 6th grade, when puberty hit me like a Mack truck (literally) and it is still very upsetting for me to think that I used to blame her for my weight problems, too.
Today, I know better (sort of) and, now that my kids are getting older, my husband, Garth [not his real name] and I try really hard to help our family eat healthy and, now that the warmer weather is here (mostly) I have made a commitment to get my family outside, more often!
It's not always easy.
However, with resources like www.TheActivators.net to help parents inspire kids to get physically active, it's getting a little easier -- wanna know how?
Who Are The Activators?
The group is the brainchild of Gregg Lichtenstein, a screenwriter who became frustrated with the lack of children's content that encouraged physical activity.
Determined to develop a high-quality, interactive comedy show that would entertain kids and keep them active, he partnered with My Gym Children's Fitness Center to bring The Activators to life.
The Activators are a comedic ensemble of teachers, athletes, singers, and dancers whose primary mission is to combat childhood obesity by making fitness fun and engaging children (ages 2-8) in physical activity.
The Activators interactive website, www.TheActivators.net is where kids can log on and have fun with The Activator’s as they demonstrate their Exer-Sillies – and they are silly, but goofiness is fun! Kids can also sign up to make a pledge to be an Activator themselves and stay fit.
The Activators are looking to get 1 million
kids to take the pledge! Then, there's music -- the CD is called My
Gym Presents Aaron Nigel Smith Featuring The Activators with classic kids songs like, Where is Thumbkin (my 16 yo's favorite) Little Tea Pot (my 14 yo's favorite) This Old Man (my 11 yo's favorite) and Itsy Bitsy Spider (my 8 yo's favorite) along with fun new songs, like the Moon Jump performed by Aaron Nigel Smith, who stars on PBS Kids’
Between the Lions.
You can visit www.AaronNigelSmith.com to learn more about his music.
Want one?
The good folks representing TheActivators.net have offered to send two (2) of our readers a copy of their CD, too.
Because, we roll like that!
