I often joke about how I can't make a decent pot of coffee to save my life, literally.
I don't know what it is.
Besides, the fact that I am mechanically deficient in situations that require anything more than pressing a button...I mean.
Even my own mother insists, "No, that's okay, you just sit, relax and I WILL MAKE THE COFFEE!!!"
So, when the good folks representing Bosch (the makers of the cool new 1Tassimo T20 Single Serve Coffee Brewer) offered to help build on my coffee making cred (heh) it took me less than 60 seconds to make a BANGIN' cup of coffee...every time!
Want to see?
The Tassimo T20 single serve coffee brewer makes over 40 types of hot and cold beverages including cappuccinos, chai lattes, tea, coffee and more in under 60 seconds!
We received a complimentary package of 1Starbucks Cappuccino Primo, T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers, along with 1Gevalia Signature Blend Coffee (Mild) which, according to my oldest (she's 17) proved to be an AWESOME choice for a road test.
UPSIDE: The T-Discs are little pods filled with fresh coffee, espresso, tea or chocolate...oh my!!!
The brewer reads a bar code on each T-Disc which signals to the machine the amount of water and temperature required for that beverage -- an AWESOME feature for mechanically-challenged folks (like me!)
DOWNSIDE: You can only use T-Discs with the Tassimo T20 (to my knowledge, because of the unique bar coding system, k cups won't work) but, Starbucks coffee T-Discs are currently available at Bed Bath and Beyond (Approx. Retail: $10.99) or you can order T-Discs online.
EDITED TO ADD: In response to JayMonster's question in comments section below -- Is the T DISC packaging recyclable?
According to Tassimo's FAQ Page:
Each T DISC is designed to prepare a perfect cup and cannot be reused. The T DISC should be removed from the machine shortly after brewing and discarded. The used T DISC is suitable for energy recovery through incineration. In locations where plastic collection systems exist, you can cut away the label, rinse the remaining coffee grounds, tea leaves or milk from the chamber and deposit the chamber and label with general plastics (non PET).
NOT SO BAD SIDE: Using the Starbucks coffee T-Discs as an example; $10.99 will get you 8 cappuccinos for approximately $1.37 per cup, which, to me, is a tolerable treat, right?
Riiiiight.
SOUNDING BETTER ALL THE TIME SIDE: Then, there's the Tassimo Gevalia Skinny Cappuccino (uses fat free milk and contains 33% less calories) which will net you approximately $1.24 per cup, which, to me, is as guilt-free as it gets, right?
Riiiiiight.
Okay, GREAT, but how's it work and, more importantly, does the coffee taste good?
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH: We received the Tassimo T20 in black (cool, right?) and, seeing as we're counter-top-challenged, as well, I love how it fits right in with room to spare. We inserted the T-disc filled with shelf-stable milk first. The brewer makes a sort of a dull thump, thump, thump, pumping sound (again, tolerable) but, with only one push of a button, it's SUPER easy to use.
NO CLEAN UP: The brewer lets out a blast of steam (to avoid flavor transfer between cups) so, you don't have to clean the unit between coffees (YAY!)
We then inserted the T-disc that came with the Starbucks Cappuccino pack (filled with espresso) next.
A few sprinkles of cinnamon sugar and...wuh-laaah...freshly brewed cappuccino, anyone?
FINAL VERDICT: The Tassimo T20 single serve coffee brewer is GREAT for when you don't have time, the need, or the ability to make an entire pot of coffee (AHEM!) and would enjoy treating yourself to a BANGIN' cup of coffee, in less than 60 seconds, every time!
The Tassimo T20 is an AWESOME addition to our home (thank you Dan Klores!) and would make a terrific housewarming gift, anytime!
