Raising 2 teens and 2 tweens (yeah, I know, right?) I feel it safe to say that cooking with your kids is a wonderful adventure.
Getting them to eat, what I cook, now that they're getting older and can, you know, read labels, or understand animal anatomy a little better, not so much.
My 2 oldest girls, however, have recently expressed interest in wanting to cook dinner for the family, at least one night per week and I am MORE than willing to had over my wooden spoon, allowing them to go free range, in the kitchen.
I was contacted by the publicist for a new cookbook, Teen Cuisine by Matthew Locricchio and I'm thinking...YAY!...my turn -- sooooooo, what's for dinner?!?
SYNOPSIS: The step-by-step recipes are easy to understand and are accommodated by photography from renowned photographer James Peterson. Chef Matthew Locricchio makes cooking accessible to the beginner in the kitchen and helps create mouthwatering meals from scratch.
OUR TAKE: In a word, this cookbook is AWESOME in its simplicity and arrangement (easy to follow directions presented in a refreshingly non-condecending tone, for teenagers and adults, alike!) and the mouth-watering photography is inspiring enough to get my kids to say, "I want to make that!"

BONUS: All the recipes feature organic ingredients and foods that are available in supermarkets from coast to coast.
FINAL VERDICT: Not for nothing, but I loved the non-threatening look and feel of this cookbook. Cooking should be fun, for everybody, right? Personally, I'm also looking forward to sampling the Yogurt and Cucumber Dip (I think Saturday is Greek night) then again, I always think stuff tastes better especially when, you know, I didn't have to cook it!
