COMMENTS CLOSED: So, so happy to be able to share this with you Julie L (comment #7) please see your email for further instructions, thanks!!!
One of my mother's earliest childhood memories is the day the Americans shipped a case of peanut butter to her kindergarten class in Hungary.
Each child was asked to line up and receive his/her ration of peanut butter and, when it was my mother's turn, she shyly whispered into her teacher's ear that she didn't have anything to spread the peanut butter on -- the bakery ran out of their allotment of bread, earlier that morning.
Growing up, my twin brother and I heard stories, like this, all the time -- especially, at the dinner table.
Even today, I'm not ashamed to admit that our lives would be very different, if it were not for the charity of strangers.
Which is one of the reasons I chose to partner with Nestle Family, in telling you about a special Facebook program that helps consumers (like us) honor the special moms in their lives while simultaneously raising donations and awareness for Mercy Housing:
We develop, finance and operate affordable, program-enriched housing communities for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.
For each photo tribute submitted via Facebook, Nestle Family will donate $1 to Mercy Housing, up to a maximum donation of $50,000 and a minimum of $25,000, ending 05/23/2011
FIND IT HERE: Visit Nestle Family on Facebook for more details.
REALLY GOOD PART: Through my partnership with Nestle Family, I was also given the opportunity to donate $50.00, to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, with a charitable gift card via JustGive.org, in my mother Eva's name (love you, Anyu!!!)
REALLY, REALLY GOOD PART: I then received a second $50.00 charitable gift card to give to another important mom in my life -- my youngest daughter Hope's godmother, Cheryl.
Happy Mother's Day!!!
THE BEST PART, REALLY: I have a third $50.00, burning a hole in my pocket, so, you want to donate it to your favorite charity?
