We are HUGE fans of Klutz.com at our house (not just because of the name, either!)
IMO, their activity books are perfect for those times when you find yourself in need of a break from replacing batteries, or just looking for some creative quiet time.
It's been raining for 3 days and my vegetable beds need weeding, badly.
Soooo...YES...this IS definitely one of those times!
This month, we received Fabulous Flowers by Anne Akers Johnson and learned how to create pretty paper flowers, too (no weeding, required!)
ABOUT THE BOOK: Let your creativity bloom with this book of can’t-go-wrong instructions for life-sized, dimensional, paper blossoms inspired by our favorite flowers: roses, daisies, daffodils, hibiscus, zinnias, cosmos, poppies, and larkspur.
Sparkly embellishments, fresh paper colors, whimsical design variations, and a custom shaping tool give these blossoms a twist that’s pure Klutz — and quite possibly, even prettier than the real thing.
So, did it work?
UPSIDE: As always, Klutz has packaged the book with everything we needed to get started. 20 pages of ready-to-punch-out paper petals, sparkly flower centers, wrapped wire stems, glue, and of course, the custom winding tool thingy — enough stuff to make bunches of flowers.
DOWNSIDE: Our first project required a lot of patience, waiting for glue to dry, in between steps and kids are going to need an extra pair of hands, as well.
NOT SO BAD SIDE: My youngest (she's 10) was able to create this pretty little daffodil in under 10 minutes and felt more than ready (i.e. confident) to try and make another one, on her own.
FINAL VERDICT: Fabulous Flowers is a fun rainy day (or, anytime mom or dad needs a break) activity for aspiring little gardeners, while inspiring a little patience, as well.
Want to try?
The good folks representing Klutz.com have offered to send two (2) of our online friends a Fabulous Flowers activity set to help create pretty paper flowers at your house, too.
Because, we roll like that!
