Years ago, when we first purchased our house and right before my oldest daughter was born, my husband and I enjoyed watching shows like This Old House -- the inspiration behind starting my blog, This Full House, actually -- because, we loved getting ideas on ways we could save money, by improving our little starter home, all by ourselves.
18 years and 4 kids later (okay, so we're really, really slow starters) we've accumulated A LOT of stuff and, well, short of an Extreme Home Do-Over, I'd be perfectly happy with a garage makeover, instead.
Seeing as we don't have a basement, or easily accessible attic and we haven't been able to park our car in the garage since 1995 (I think!)
It is for THIS reason that I am really, really excited to announce my participation in the Bagster Bag Blogger Challenge!
To help kick-start my participation in this project, I'm sharing THE BEFORE pics of our garage clean up (may not be suitable for all viewers, most especially, if you're organized and stuff) and hosting a sweet giveaway, as well.
First, a little more about the product:
Bagster bags cost about $29.95 and the flat rate collection fee ranges from $79 to $159 per bag, depending on your area – 50 to 70 percent less than a dumpster rental.
When I first told my husband about this challenge, he was all, like, I've seen these guys on HGTV (I missed that episode, dangit!) and, seeing as we can't afford to rent a dumpster, right now (or, probably never) he also thought The Bagster Bag was a perfect fit for us.
The Bagster bag is a highly durable, woven bag designed for disposing as much as 3,300 pounds of debris and is supposedly big enough to hold full sheets of plywood, doors and even a bathtub.
So, you ready to see what's behind the wallpapered door? What? Okay, so, I thought it would be fun to wallpaper the door, leading into our garage, seeing as it IS in the middle of our living room (SHEESH!)
Lots and lots of stuff that we really do need to go through and decide whether or not it's worth keeping, or giving away.
Also, old broken stuff, empty boxes and shipping cartons, lots and lots of them, just in case stuff breaks and, you know, needed to be shipped back, 18 years ago?
The best part of this project is that we will be able to use The Bagster bag for as long as we like, schedule a collection when the bag is full and Waste Management will collect the bag within three (3) working days.
Come back later in September and I'll show you how it ALL goes, as we put the list of their key features to the test.
In the meantime, I am going to send one (1) of our online friends a $100 AMEX Gift Card to help kick-start your next home improvement project, as well.
Because, we roll like that!
