That's me, in the back row (far left) looking somewhat in a daze, a little confused & probably severely jet-lagged at the time, too!
While I was extremely thankful to be able to attend BlogHer 11 in San Diego, CA (thank you, Kmart) as a Gatorade Mom (seriously, we have 2 cases in the garage, I think!) it was my good fortune to also be invited to attend the Gatorade event at BlogHer and meet professional American soccer player Brandi Chastain .
Brandi Chastain is a former member of the United States women's national soccer team and best remembered for her famous winning pose, at the 1999 Women's World Cup, in a sports bra!
As an athlete and a mom, she spoke about the importance of "getting kids to participate in a sport even if they never become a professional," and, let me tell you, she is just as passionate and personable, in person.
Most parents already know how sports can have a very positive impact on health and personal development and, if you've ever sat on cold bleachers or rooted from the sidelines, in the rain, then you know!
Today, I am taking the opportunity to help online friends (yes, YOU!) learn a little more about Gatorade's BECOME campaign and share a little piece of sports history, as well.
- Gatorade will donate one dollar up to $10,000 to the Women’s Sports Foundation for every pledge received at www.Gatorade.com/moms.
- Just click “take the pledge now” on the main Gatorade Moms page.
- The donation will help ensure there are opportunities for all children who want to get physically active, get involved in competitive athletics and get in the game.
I am very pleased to partner with Gatorade in helping to spread the word about their BECOME campaign, sharing inspiring stories from real Sports Moms (like me) helping to encourage families (like ours) to participate in sports activities.
The good folks representing Gatorade have offered to send one (1) of our readers an autographed soccer ball from Brandi Chastain to kick around and perhaps scare up a couple of dust kitties, or twenty around your house, too.
Because, we roll like that!
