I'm NOT very good at asking for stuff. Oh, I ask the kids to feed the dog, change the cat litter, pick up the wet towels or take out the garbage which, truth be told, translates to more of a DEMAND, after asking for the 3rd or 4th time, really.
Asking someone -- more specifically, another mom -- to please do me a favor, not so much.
Last week, I was attacked by the kidney stone from hell, spent a few days in the hospital and, let me just tell you, along with my terrible fear of needles (ICK!) I got over that REAL QUICK, too!
I feel very blessed to have a strong online network of friends, as well. These ladies were kind enough to take time out of their busy days to check in on me or leave me breath-y voicemails (girlfriend had a real bad cold that day) that helped me, well, smile and forget the "ICK!"
For just a little while, anyway.
I am also honored to be able to call them out as very dear friends IRL, too (yes, they know about it!)
Why? Is that weird? It's not meant to be, really.
We've shared the ups, downs and somewhere in-betweens of blogging, while under the influence of children, some of us for nearly 9 years now (not an easy feat, by the by) as each of us has, quite literally, watched our kids grow up online.
"You'd better call your friends, they're looking for you!"
I had just woken up from a long nap in time to catch Madonna at the halftime show on Sunday (which she rocked, HARD, btw!) when my husband, Garth (not his real name) told me he received a message that a couple of "mah friends" were, you know, looking for me and then he strongly suggested that perhaps I should learn to charge my cell phone battery, more often.
"Oh, and they found me on Facebook."
Did I mention, my online friends are very, very resourceful?
"They're calling it dedicated reasearch."
Nope...I couldn't ask for a better bunch of girlfriends and...YES!...I'm keeping them.
How about you? Have you texted a friend today? Left a breathy-y voicemail to check if they're okay? Go ahead, I'll wait!
Oh, and in case you missed it: more of our LIASO moments.
