Donate a Photo: Taking Selfies for Good & Healthy Essentials Giveaway

Our Beach
We are currently vacationing in Cape Cod, MA (a.k.a. my pretend home), and with our oldest girl working full-time and our middle girl entering her senior year in high school (no, I'm not quite sure how THAT happened, either!) we're taking advantage of sharing every possible moment, together:  oh yes, there will be selfies :)

Today, I'm very excited to partner with my friends at TheMotherhood.com and share with you information about Donate a Photo: a free app developed for Android and iOS platforms that allows consumers (like you and me) to give back to causes we care about by taking those selfies and turning them into a way to do good -- #SelflessSelfies.

This Full Hosue #SelflessSelfies

Donate a photo every day and do good things: my middle girl and I donated this selfie  on our first day here on Cape Cod (a.k.a. our pretend home) and...BOOM!!!...we just helped fix up a public park.

For every photo you share, Johnson & Johnson donates $1 to a cause you want to help: so why not put all those awesome selfies to good use?  You can also help get medicine for an infant, or help kids play sports safely. You choose the cause you want to help, J&J makes it happen.

That's great, but how is another selfie going to help?

That's the beauty of this campaign, you'll make a difference by raising money and awareness for causes you care about, including:

Help a girl in Liberia go back to school with Girl Up -- help send an adolescent girl in Liberia back to school, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and leadership skills.  It takes 683 photos to send one girl in Liberia back to school.

Help protect a child from bullying with PFLAG -- providing resources and materials for an anti-bullying session held at a school, to help keep schools safe and protect all children from being bullied.

Help a child in Mexico get to school safely with Safe Kids Worldwide -- it takes 10 photos for Safe Kids Worldwide to teach a child in Mexico, and his or her parents, how to be safe on the road and in cars through Safe Kids programs held in schools.

Help send a student to nursing school with Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association -- for every 1000 photos donated, a student gets awarded a $1,000 scholarship for nursing school.

Help restore a public park with Keep America Beautiful -- donations go toward gloves, mulch, trash bags, shovels, rakes, flower bulbs, shrubs and other supplies to help restore public parks in the US. It takes 750 photos to restore one public park.

Help a newborn thrive with Save the Children -- donations make it possible to provide antenatal steroids to help a newborn’s lungs mature.

Help a baby in Bangladesh stay healthy with Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA) -- for every 15 photos donated, one mother will receive messages about good nutrition, how to prepare for childbirth, and reminders to get immunizations at her local clinic throughout her pregnancy and the first year of her baby’s life.

Oh, and it's super-easy to donate a photo through the donateaphoto.com (dork-proof, even!) and we've got plenty of selfies to share -- especially, while on our family vacation.

We've got 3 teenagers and a 12 year-old (same thing!), enough said.

Speaking of teens, our friends at J&J have also launched HealthyEssentials.com: a site offering consumers (like you and me) free printable coupons and special offers on health and beauty products to help take care of you, as well as your family.

Want some?!?  EXCELLENT!!!

Disclosure:  Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn't reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation.  I was engaged by TheMotherhood.com and am being paid for my partcipation in this campaign.
